The locker is a quintessential symbol of the American school system. Lockers are one of those few subtle objects that permeate our memories with associations of our past. They contain things. They hold our memories, even identities. For some these identities are false and are merely hidden defense mechanisms against the outside world. These identities, for some, meant the difference between simply using a locker as a daily convenience or being slammed against one.

Screwed up the date on this one. I am still used to writing 2011.
I am reblogging this from lelandjanuska’s page (this is not my own work). This is a beautiful contribution done by them promoting the project. I am very grateful to have fellow bloggers participating! Thank you so much!
Steven and I want to promote the Montered Project since we can relate to it in a way, both of us have had to deal with suicidal depression during our early teenage years and the artwork is breathtaking.
Follow and check it out! It’s worth it!

P.S. - We extend our gratitude to the artist, putting their feelings into their artwork like it’s nobody’s business. Kudos.

Shoebox projects are nostalgic for many of us, just as the environments and memories that associated with them: classrooms and playgrounds. These locations could have been epicenters of abuse and bullying for some of us.
